This is my song
This is my song to getting drunk.
This is my song to getting fucked up with my friends.
This is my song to Stella artois.
This is my song to great big dirty pints of guinness and a cheeky whisky chaser.
This is my song to wkd and vodka red bulls.
This is my song to wetherspoons.
This is my song to fighting in the car park.
This is my song to a punch in the face.
This is my song to the guy who got a kicking two weeks running.
This is my song to the guy who carrys knives like others carry pens.
This is my song to the guy who got twenty years.
This is my song to the country off a cliff.
This is my song to the blue screen economy.
This is my song to quantitive easing.
This is my song to march two thousand and fucking nine.

Deflation
Deflation is a cup of tea when you ordered a glass of champagne.
Deflation is Gordon Brown when you voted for Obama.
Deflation is minehead when you booked Ibiza.
Deflation is coldplay when you wanted joy divison.
Deflation is lying in bed writing this when you should be making love to a beautiful woman.
Deflation is dan brown and jk Rowling.
Deflation is uri geller or michael Jackson and is not Jesus Christ.
Deflation is what we better get used to.

A difficult year
It’s been a brutal year and it’s not over yet. But I am glad I,ve been through it and I have behaved a lot better than I thought. That’s more down to my buddys who have pulled me through than anything down to me, but I am still a little bit proud. Anyway roll on the 15th September and the next big challenge.

Recession dreams
At night I dream recession dreams all closing down sales, embittered shop assistants cursing head office efficiencies, empty streets and lonely bars.

The problem about coldplay is not the piss poor music but more the fact that chris martin looks like he should work for microsoft. An account manager or technology evangelist for something like windows live or sharepoint. I should know there’s lots near me. Some have nested, in corners of the pub they annoy me with their unthink, you can tell they never really drink. It’s not that they are bad people but they should really have better things to do with themselves.

A brutal year
It’s shaping up to be a brutal year.
Everywhere I go everyone has Got a sat-nav. Flickering lights on the dashboard of really old cars.
Next left and alternative routes, u-turns and back roads. You have reached your destination. You get out of the car blinking, rubbing your eyes somewhere you never intended to be.

Bought for a song
You get up in the morning and you feel like sitting in the same chair all day.
But you rouse yourself and make a move, driving in the car you fumble for a cd. Nearly crashing the car flick through the tracks and lucky you hit the right on.
Oh the healing power of pop music. Trains to brazil sums it all up.
“It’s 1 o’clock on a Friday morning
I’m trying to keep my back from wall,
The prophets and their pawns have had another success
I’m wondering why we bother at all”
The guiellmots make it all ok and I walk into work smiling.

Britpop
Britpop what can I say I was there. So was everyone I guess it was only 10 years ago. We can sneer now all menswear, ooh echobelly , ooh space, ooh bluetones, ooh how awful. But I loved it, me an indiekid it was great it all went overground. My bands in the charts. I was back there over Christmas courtesy of luke haines “bad vibes britpop my part in it’s downfall” . It’s quite brillant right up there with Julian copes “head on” in books about the sheer pointlessness but beauty of pop music. Louise weener didn’t like it in the observer she thought it was pointless a book about nothing. She should know I read one of hers once and it was really about nothing.

Christmas
I love Christmas and it’s not just because of the cans of cafferys chilling in the garage. It’s more to do with staying in my uncles house in 2007. He was dead of course. It was strange his house had always been so full of life but his kids were all grown up and he was gone. As always I was looking for a message. And what I took away was this – we won’t always be here. One day we will be gone so enjoy yourself it’s later than you think I know I will.
